Paulo – Black and White Project
The first subject in my ongoing project
Ted Grant once said “when you photograph people in colour, you photograph their clothes, but when you photograph people in Black and White you photograph their soul”.
Last Month I started what is to known as my Black and White Project.
I have an intense passion for Black and White portraits. The difference with these portraits is that I don’t want crazy locations, strange lighting, over the top editing.
I want to capture the subject in a plain simple way, giving me the opportunity to “see” the person. So in doing this i get a chance to talk and have a conversation with my subject.
I get to ask questions that will allow them to think and give me their answers, plain and simple and in so doing, i get to see them.
Paulo Toureiro is a fellow photographer, he specializes in fashion and is really a fantastic photographer having his photographs featured in Local and international magazines such as Dossier. He and I sat and had a chat, and now obviously both being photographers, we have the ability to chat about a lot of subjects in the realm of photography. But to me, the best part was getting to know what makes him tick, his love of body art and obviously is crazy passion for fasion photography.
Here are a few portraits of Paulo.
